What are the most common fatal truck crash causes?

On Behalf of | Feb 3, 2018 | blog

Accidents occur on roads across the U.S. for many different reasons. In Houston, and other parts of Texas, they may be caused by truck driver fatigue, inclement weather, or busy roads, among many other factors. If you are worried about a large truck accident, it is important to go over some of the different causes, especially if you are a truck driver or own a trucking company. Unfortunately, these collisions will continue to claim lives.

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration reports that during 2015, more fatal bus and large truck crashes that occurred were the result of speeding than any other factor. However, other major contributing factors included distraction (second on the list for large truck drivers) and impairment (second for those driving passenger vehicles). Clearly, reaching high speeds is very dangerous and an incredibly prevalent problem among those who drive both passenger vehicles and large trucks. Drivers speed for all sorts of reasons, whether they are late for work or do not want to miss out on an event. Sadly, this decision could cost them their life and claim other lives also. Distractions, such as cell phones and reaching for objects on the floor, as well as impairment due to intoxication and fatigue are also very concerning.

Aside from these causes, there are many more reasons why large truck and bus collisions happen. The victims of these wrecks regularly face serious problems from a physical, mental, and financial point of view, which is why they should take a firm stand for their rights.
