Can traveling at low speeds increase the chances of a crash?

On Behalf of | Feb 23, 2018 | blog

When people think of a motor vehicle collision, they may picture an accident that is caused by someone traveling at a recklessly high speed. However, each crash is unique and some may involve more uncommon details. For example, someone may be involved in a crash that occurs while one driver is traveling at a relatively low speed. However, an accident is not without consequences just because one driver is going slow.

There are a variety of reasons why you may prefer to travel at a low speed. First of all, it is important to bear in mind that many places have laws prohibiting drivers from driving at a speed which is dangerously low and disrupts traffic, something that should always be avoided. However, you may still prefer to drive slower than most of the other people on the road, which can be problematic when it seems like everyone else is in a rush.

When you drive slower than others, you may become stressed out or even find yourself in an argument with another driver, which can lead to an accident. Or, you might find yourself involved in a multi-vehicle crash when one driver attempts to pass you. In rare instances drivers may be rear-ended by another vehicle while they are driving slow and it is also important to remember that driving at any speed can result in a motor vehicle wreck.
